Tábua allocates 150 thousand euros to the municipality's firefighters

Campeão das Províncias28 August 2026 at 12:41

The Municipality of Tábua approved financial support of 150 thousand euros to the two humanitarian volunteer firefighter associations in the municipality, destined for the acquisition of two Forest Firefighting Vehicles. Each association receives 75 thousand euros, namely the Volunteer Firefighters of Tábua and the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Nova de Oliveirinha.

This measure falls within the scope of the support granted by the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Portuguese State to mitigate the damage caused by rural fires that affected the North and Central regions in August and September 2025. The municipality of Tábua decided to cover a sum corresponding to 25% of the acquisition value of each vehicle, thereby replacing the financial component that would have been the responsibility of each association.

The two humanitarian associations signed funding contracts with the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of Centro for the acquisition of the vehicles. The council highlighted that this acquisition will strengthen the operational capacity of the two Fire Corps in the municipality, providing them with adequate means to combat rural fires and contributing to a more effective response in protecting the population, their property and the territory.
