A 33-year-old Kazakh tourist suffered a fall on the Pico Furão trail, located in Fajã dos Cortes, Curral das Freiras, requiring a rescue that took place over 20 hours. The emergency response involved 48 operatives, 11 land vehicles and the Civil Protection helicopter, highlighting the complexity and scale of the operation.
Despite the apparent severity of the situation, the man escaped with only minor abrasions, without suffering serious injuries. The victim was rescued by helicopter at around 10:20 am on Friday, successfully concluding an operation that mobilized significant resources.
