Carris will present on Monday, at the auditorium of the Ordem dos Engenheiros in Lisbon, a solution for the future Elevador da Glória, almost one year after the accident that killed 16 people and injured 20 others. The new project will prioritize safety, combining engineering and heritage preservation, while maintaining the historic relationship between the elevator and the Calçada da Glória. The technical concepts and main guidelines will be announced at the meeting. Lisbon City Hall has appointed a team of technical experts from the Ordem dos Engenheiros, LNEC, and Instituto Superior Técnico to develop the new system. Meanwhile, Carris has terminated all contracts with MNTC, the company responsible for the elevator's maintenance at the time of the accident, and insurer Fidelidade has covered approximately 2.3 million euros and reached compensation agreements with four families, with seven lawsuits still under negotiation.
