The Madeira Government identified an area of 29 thousand square meters in the parish of São Martinho with conditions for future public housing developments. The area was considered suitable for housing construction, leading the Autonomous Region to decide to preserve the land.
The decision aims to ensure that the space will be available for housing projects in the future, protecting it from other uses that could compromise its construction potential. This measure is part of a territorial planning strategy by the Madeiran executive.
The parish of São Martinho, located in the municipality of Funchal, was chosen for its location and characteristics to accommodate this land reserve destined for public housing. The regional government acted to secure these lands before they could be allocated to other purposes.
