Move Brasil: government extends vehicle financing deadline for taxi drivers and app-based drivers

The National Monetary Council (CMN) approved on Thursday (the 27th) the extension of the payment deadline for the Move Brasil program loan intended for taxi drivers, app-based drivers, and taxi cooperatives, one of the electoral bets of the Lula government. The change extends from 72 to up to 84 months the maximum reimbursement period for operations, maintaining up to six months of principal grace period.

The CMN also confirmed the increase from R$ 150 thousand to R$ 200 thousand of the maximum automobile value that can be financed by the program. With this, the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government is attempting an offensive to accelerate these professionals' access to Move Brasil.

The program has approximately R$ 4 billion loaned out of a total of R$ 30 billion available. The Executive branch sees potential to accelerate the loans and has begun demanding a less reticent stance from private banks. In the midst of this power struggle, the government had already published an ordinance extending the financing possibilities.
