Inflation rose again in France, in an economic context marked by the stagnation of Gross Domestic Product in the second quarter. The country thus faces a scenario of limited economic growth, even with some positive indicators in consumption.
Household consumption increased during this period, which represents a positive point for the French economy. This growth in private consumption would have contributed to mitigating the impact of global economic stagnation.
However, business investment continued to weaken, raising concerns about the medium-term growth capacity of the economy. The weakness of business investment contrasts with the dynamism of household consumption.
This pattern of unequal growth, with active private consumption but contracting business investment, characterizes France's current economic moment and explains in part the GDP stagnation recorded.
