Fuels push Spain's inflation to highest increase since 2023

SAPO Notícias28 August 2026 at 09:57

Spain's inflation rate rose to 4.3% in August, according to preliminary data from Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE). This value represents the highest year-on-year increase recorded since 2023.

Fuels were the main factor driving this price increase. This dynamic significantly contributed to the growth of the inflation rate in the neighboring country.

The monthly variation of inflation stood at 0.7 percentage points. This data reflects the accelerated pace of price growth during the month of August.

Spain's INE released these numbers as preliminary data, meaning the final values may still undergo adjustments in the coming weeks.
