Fuel prices in Portugal will see opposite trends next week. The liter of diesel will drop 7.5 cents, which will bring its price below 2 euros. Conversely, the liter of gasoline will rise 1.5 cents, thus crossing the 2 euro threshold.
The exact value of the discount to be applied to the excise tax on petroleum products (ISP) is not yet known, which creates some uncertainty about the final price consumers will pay at the pumps.
This situation of opposite trends between the two main fuels reflects fluctuations in the international oil market and Portuguese government fiscal policy decisions regarding taxation on petroleum products.
