King Harald V of Norway died this Friday, August 28, at the age of 89, after a period marked by the worsening of his health condition. The monarch passed away peacefully at Oslo University Hospital, at 6:35 am, according to what was announced by Norwegian authorities.

The death of the king marks the end of a reign that began in January 1991, when he ascended to the Norwegian throne following the death of his father, King Olav V. Harald V was the third monarch of Norway since the restoration of the monarchy in the country, in 1905.
