Ratko Mladic, the "Butcher of Bosnia," to Have State Funeral

Ratko Mladic, known as the "Butcher of Bosnia," is to have a state funeral. Mladic led the Bosnian Serb forces during the Bosnia War, which took place between 1992 and 1995. In 2017, he was convicted to life imprisonment by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed during that conflict. The decision to hold a state funeral for Mladic comes as a controversial tribute to the military commander convicted of war crimes.
