Scooters have become a target to be eliminated in a Portugal still dominated by the car, says urban planner

Urban planner Frederico Moura e Sá criticized the removal of electric scooters from Portuguese streets, considering that they have become "a target to be eliminated" without sound justifications. In his view, there exists in Portugal a culture of absolute automobile dominance that prevents balanced reflection on urban mobility. Moura e Sá argues that the removal of these electric vehicles represents a missed opportunity to transform public space in a more sustainable way. The urban planner also emphasizes the need to reduce car dominance in cities and create conditions for greater social interaction in shared spaces.
