Partial lunar eclipse attracted many curious onlookers on a night of eyes on the sky

About 40 people gathered in the early morning hours of tonight at the Centro de Ciência Viva, in Constância, to observe the partial lunar eclipse. The event attracted many curious onlookers who wanted to turn their eyes to the sky during this astronomical phenomenon.

Astronomer Lina Canas, who spoke to SIC, explained that the partial lunar eclipse is not such a rare phenomenon. This type of eclipse occurs when Earth positions itself between the Sun and the Moon, projecting its shadow onto a part of the natural satellite.

The Centro de Ciência Viva in Constância provided the infrastructure and suitable environment for participants to follow the phenomenon in an organized manner and with specialized guidance from astronomy experts.
