After the summer vacation period, the health centers in the province of Castellón, in Spain, are facing a significant increase in demand for primary care consultations. The situation has reached the point where, at some health centers, it is necessary to book an appointment 18 days in advance to be seen by a family doctor. This waiting time represents a considerable increase compared to periods of lower demand.
This phenomenon coincides with the time of returning to normal routines, which also includes preparation for the school year and stocking up homes. The combination of these factors contributes to the temporary overload of local health services.
