Court prevents Garotinho from airing electoral ads on TV and accessing party funds

The TRE-RJ unanimously suspended Anthony Garotinho's (Republicanos) access to electoral fund resources and free electoral propaganda on radio and television, in addition to preventing his participation in debates and campaign events. The decision addressed an urgent request from Eduardo Paes's coalition, and the case rapporteur, Judge Bruno Bodart, considered that Garotinho has his political rights suspended due to a conviction for administrative misconduct, which, according to the Court's understanding, prevents him from meeting the requirements demanded by electoral legislation to run for governor of Rio at this time. The Court has not yet definitively analyzed the candidacy registration.
