Tragedy in Nepal: an avalanche so brutal it seemed like an earthquake

A devastating avalanche struck the Himalayas between Nepal and Tibet at an altitude of about 5 kilometers, causing such intense destruction that it was compared to an earthquake. The provisional number of fatalities is close to 400, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in the region in recent years.
