Aerial images show destruction caused by mud 'avalanche' in Nepal

Aerial images reveal the devastation caused by an avalanche of mud and debris at the border between Nepal and Tibet, leaving at least 389 dead in Nepal and 3 in China, in addition to approximately 1,400 missing in both countries. The tragedy, considered one of the most serious in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake, destroyed dozens of bridges and damaged almost 40 kilometers of paved roads. More than 24 hours after the disaster, the water had not yet receded completely in some areas, and villages remain covered by a thick layer of mud.
