The president of the United States, Donald Trump, signed an executive order on Thursday renaming Lake Ontario to "Lake America," amid the escalation of the trade war with Canada. The measure was taken in response to tensions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and after the provincial premier of Ontario threatened to cut off electricity and mineral supplies to the U.S. Lake Ontario is the smallest and most eastern of the five Great Lakes of North America, located on the border between Canada and the United States, having great economic, environmental, and strategic importance for both countries.
