Experts recommend daily consumption of 28 to 57 grams of dark chocolate with at least 85% cocoa to obtain compounds associated with concentration, neuronal protection, and emotional well-being. Pharmacist and nutritionist Paula Martín Clares highlights that cocoa is rich in flavonoids, antioxidants that improve cerebral blood flow and protect neurons against oxidative stress, in addition to containing magnesium, tryptophan, and theobromine. The specialist warns, however, that these possible benefits do not turn chocolate into a treatment for depression and depend on choosing products with low sugar content.
