Video: street sweeper enters the water and saves dog carried by the current during storm surge in Copacabana

A garbage collector from Comlurb, João Batista Paulino Tavares, rescued a dog that was being carried by the current during a sea swell in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The moment was recorded on video and shared on the urban cleaning company's social media. João went into the water and managed to pull the animal out before it was swept away by the current, asking if the dog had an owner. After the rescue, the animal's owner showed up to reunite with it, and the story had a happy ending. The swell caused the water to advance over the sand, the boardwalk, and the bike path.
