The National Statistics Institute (INE) revealed that Covilhã was the municipality with the largest burned area in Portugal between 2020 and 2025. In total, 50,218 fires were recorded during this period, with 31% of the fires having started in areas classified as having high and very high fire hazard, concentrated mainly in the North and Central regions of the country.

A mudslide hit on Wednesday, the 26th, the border region between Nepal and Tibet, leaving people missing. The landslide, which reportedly originated from the Nepali side, left a layer of mud that in some points reaches up to 2 meters in depth. Composed of a wave of water, ice, sands and rocks, the avalanche went down through the Trishuli and Bhote Koshi rivers, reaching areas near the border between the two territories.
