Environmentalist calls for urgent visit by the Minister of Health to Boticas after fires

Environmentalist Carlos Dobreira sent an email to the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, warning about the impacts of the fires that occurred in the area of Nogueira, in the municipality of Boticas, affecting the parishes of Ardãos and Bobadela. In the letter, with a copy to the president of the Municipality of Boticas, António Guilherme Pires, the environmentalist requests an urgent visit from the minister to the region affected by the fires.

Fires: Government recognizes Vouzela and Valpaços fires as natural disaster

The Portuguese Government officially recognized as a natural disaster the rural fires that occurred in Vouzela (Viseu district) and Valpaços (Vila Real district), between July and August, and made available a allocation of ten million euros to support the affected agricultural holdings. The Minister of Agriculture, José Manuel Fernandes, acknowledged that "no support can replace an old vineyard, a centennial olive grove or years of work", but guaranteed that farmers will not be left alone. Two detainees suspected of killing and feeding on six people in Angola

Two men, aged 31 and 38, were arrested in Angola on suspicion of having murdered and devoured six people reported missing in recent years in Bié province.
