North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the United States' approval of the sale of missiles and military equipment to South Korea, valued at 125 million dollars, including AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. In statements cited by the state agency KCNA, a spokesperson stated that Pyongyang recognizes the hostile attitude of the United States and considered the armaments a "new threat" to the country's security. North Korea warned that it will respond in a "serious, immediate and powerful" manner to hostile acts, also warning about the acceleration of military integration between the United States and its allies in the region.
