The collective strength of caregivers

The Circular-Cuidadores do Mundo (World Caretakers) project emerged in 2018 from an encounter promoted by the Tangolomango festival, when curator Marina Vieira met residents of underserved regions in Greater Rio who developed simple initiatives for caring for others, nature, and local traditions. Joining forces with Raquel Diniz and Maria Gouvêa, the project aims to identify, gather, and tell stories of people who continuously protect traditions, cultural assets, territories, and histories, demonstrating active listening and concern for the collective.

Festival do Rio 2026 announces selected Brazilian films for Première Brasil; see list

The Rio Festival announced 101 selected films for the 28th edition of Première Brasil, which takes place from October 1 to 11. The projects were chosen from 1,500 feature and short films submitted. Among the highlights are "Vicentina Pede Desculpas," which is competing for Brazil's Oscar 2027 nomination, and "A Margem do Rio," recently awarded at Locarno. A total of 45 features and shorts compete for the Redentor Trophy, distributed across categories such as feature and short competitions, Novos Rumos, Hors Concours, Retratos (documentaries), and Midnight Movies (experimental and genre films).
