Festival do Rio 2026 announces selected Brazilian films for Première Brasil; see list

The Rio Festival announced 101 selected films for the 28th edition of Première Brasil, which takes place from October 1 to 11. The projects were chosen from 1,500 feature and short films submitted. Among the highlights are "Vicentina Pede Desculpas," which is competing for Brazil's Oscar 2027 nomination, and "A Margem do Rio," recently awarded at Locarno. A total of 45 features and shorts compete for the Redentor Trophy, distributed across categories such as feature and short competitions, Novos Rumos, Hors Concours, Retratos (documentaries), and Midnight Movies (experimental and genre films).
This Thursday's Eurodreams draw revealed the winning numbers and stars, with a highlighted prize of 20 thousand euros per month for 30 years, representing a total of 720 thousand euros over the period. This European lottery continues to attract players with the promise of millionaire prizes distributed monthly.
