Pontal Museum celebrates 50 years with exhibition and free party featuring shows by Lia de Itamaracá, Siba and others

The Pontal Museum, in Rio de Janeiro, celebrates this weekend its 50 years of existence and five years of the new headquarters in Barra, with a large free festival that includes performances by Lia de Itamaracá, Siba and other artists. Founded by French painter Jacques Van de Beuque, who fell in love with sculptures by Mestre Vitalino in 1951, the museum houses more than ten thousand pieces by 300 artists from 23 Brazilian states, representing Brazilian folk art. The celebration is organized by directors and curators Lucas Van de Beuque and Angela Mascelani, the founder's grandson and daughter-in-law.

Festival do Rio announces selected films for Première Brasil 2026; check out the list

The Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival announced this Thursday (27) the selected films for Premiere Brasil 2026, a showcase dedicated entirely to national cinema. In its 28th edition, the event will screen 101 Brazilian productions, between feature films and short films, after the curatorial committee watched 1,500 registered titles. The main competition showcase, of feature fiction films, features 45 films competing for the Redeemer Trophy. Festival do Rio 2026 takes place between October 1st and 11th.
