INEM has backed down on integrating the 56 emergency medical ambulances into hospitals, yielding to one of the main demands of the union. The transformation of SIV ambulances into cars will only be tested before being implemented nationwide. Negotiations between the institute and the union continue, although the possibility of a strike remains on the table.

IHRU opens competitions for 77 affordable rental homes in 19 municipalities

The Instituto da Habitação e da Reabilitação Urbana (IHRU) has opened nine draw competitions for the allocation of 77 affordable rental housing units, under the Housing Rental Support Program (PAA). Applications run until September 17, 2026 and cover housing types from T0 to T6, distributed across 19 municipalities, including Lisbon, Porto, Aveiro, Beja, Évora, Setúbal, among others. Interested parties must first obtain the Application Registration Certificate on the PAA Platform and then submit their application through the IHRU Arrenda Platform.
