Madeira and Azores fishermen will be able to resume bigeye tuna fishing in 2026, after a 500-tonne increase in the fishing quota, achieved through coordination between the Regional Governments of Madeira and the Azores with the Republic's Government. This coordination between the two autonomous regions made it possible to guarantee better conditions for Atlantic fishermen.
