Madeira and Azores fishermen can once again fish bigeye tuna after the guarantee of an additional 500 tonnes of quota for 2026, resulting from coordination between the two Regional Governments and the Republic's Government. The reopening came into effect today, allowing the resumption of an activity that, according to the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries of Madeira, had not been possible to provide to the sector for several years.
