Court orders Droga Raia to pay damages for harassment and discrimination against employees of the chain

The Labor Court sentenced the pharmacy chain Droga Raia to pay R$4 million in collective moral damages, after a public civil action filed by the Labor Prosecution Office in Rio de Janeiro. The sentence is due to cases of moral, sexual, and maternal harassment, as well as discriminatory practices related to race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and physical appearance, including fatphobia. The Regional Labor Court of the 1st Region also found that the company's internal reporting channel did not function effectively to investigate and suppress acts of harassment and discrimination, in addition to failures in occupational health and safety programs without monitoring of psychosocial risks.
The Municipality of Soure awarded the cleaning of the Arunca river for 575 thousand euros to the company Biopower, through direct award, with an execution period of 90 days. The intervention aims to prevent new floods in the municipality.
