Woman and child injured after being hit by fallen pole in Copacabana

A 25-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were injured on Tuesday night after a telecommunications pole collapsed on them on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro. The equipment, an optical cabinet from an unidentified telecommunications company, was collected and the area was cordoned off. The victims were rescued by the Fire Department and taken to Hospital Municipal Miguel Couto, where they were treated and released. The mother suffered facial injuries and needed stitches, while the child had fractures in some toes, but neither was in life-threatening condition.
