From the earthquake to the floods: what caused the tragedy in Nepal?

A sudden flood caused by intense seasonal rains transformed one of the main access routes to Tibet, in Nepal, into a scene of destruction, with hundreds of people missing, including tourists and pilgrims of various nationalities. Rescue teams face enormous difficulties, including completely destroyed roads, large amounts of mud and the constant risk of new floods, which complicates rescue operations.

Driver of hit-and-run in Albufeira remanded in custody

The 35-year-old driver who ran over 16 people in the Oura area, in Albufeira, was placed in preventive detention after judicial interrogation. The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on Tuesday on a nightlife street, leaving 16 injured, two in serious condition, including two GNR military officers. The driver, who was on vacation in the city, was arrested after fleeing from authorities and had an alcohol level of 1.29 g/l, having been charged with the crimes of aggravated assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, and dangerous driving.

GNR rescues weakened bird of prey
