Rio city government will punish those who fail to comply with rules for the circulation of individual electric vehicles

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall will begin to fine and confiscate individual electric vehicles that do not comply with the new circulation rules, starting in November. The decree creates the Registry of Micro Electric Equipment (Cadmicro), expands enforcement and establishes speed restrictions: mopeds, bicycles and self-propelled vehicles are prohibited on roads above 60 km/h; between 40 and 60 km/h, only mopeds can circulate; bicycles and scooters are restricted to roads up to 40 km/h. Vehicles with characteristics incompatible with the planned categories will also be taken out of circulation.
