The border region between Nepal and Tibet, hit by a mud avalanche this Wednesday (26) with 95 confirmed deaths and more than 380 missing, also suffered another deadly landslide last year. At that time, the Bhote Koshi river overflowed after heavy rains in July 2025, destroying the Friendship Bridge that connected Chinese Tibet to Nepal. The previous disaster killed nine people and injured 24 others, disrupting trade flow between the two countries. The Bhote Koshi river, originating in Tibet, flows into the Trishuli river, in Nepal, the main scene of the current avalanche.
