INSS spending forecast for 2027 reduced by R$ 5 billion

The National Social Security Council (CNPS) approved a reduction of R$ 5 billion in the INSS expenditure forecast for 2027, dropping from R$ 1.224 trillion to R$ 1.218 trillion. Despite the downward revision, the amount represents an increase of 7.92% compared to the estimate for 2026. The update will be used in preparing the 2027 Annual Budget Bill. At the same time, the government managed to reduce the backlog of pending INSS benefits from 1.8 million to 1.55 million requests between June and July, representing a cumulative drop of 74% this year.
