Editorial policy

How items get here, what is done to them, and what is not.

Документ ведётся на английском. Мы публикуем оригинал, а не перевод, который никто не вычитывал.

How sources are chosen

Sources are publications that report on the region this site covers. The list is maintained by hand and changes when a source stops meeting that description.

An item is never published without a named source. If the source of a claim cannot be established, the item is not published.

What we do to a story

We summarise. A summary is shorter than the original and is written in our own words; it is not a copy of the original text.

We do not add facts that are not in the source, and we do not soften or sharpen what the source said.

Corrections

Write to [email protected] with the item and the problem. A correction to a factual error is made to the item itself, and the item keeps its publication date and shows the date it was updated.

If the original publication corrects its story, tell us and we will follow it.

Automation, stated plainly

Collecting, sorting and preparing summaries is automated: that is how a small publication follows many sources at once. Editorial responsibility is not automated — it rests with Matias Fernandes.
