Nepal: Death toll from flood rises to 750

At least 750 people have died and 3,044 remain missing following a flood that occurred on Wednesday in the border zone between Tibet and Nepal. The new toll was released today by Nepalese authorities and refers to victims on both sides of the border.

The flood is believed to have been triggered by intense rains that affected the region, causing flash floods and sweeping away people and belongings. Search and rescue operations continue in an effort to locate the thousands of missing.

Local authorities and emergency teams are working on the ground to assist affected populations, but adverse weather conditions and infrastructure damage have hampered rescue efforts.

This natural disaster occurs at a time when the border region between Tibet and Nepal is frequently affected by extreme weather phenomena during the monsoon season.
