El Niño Already Driving Up Coffee, Cocoa and Sugar Prices and Expected to Affect Agribusiness Performance in 2027

Even before the El Niño climate phenomenon reaches its peak, it is already beginning to affect the prices of agricultural commodities. El Niño causes abnormal warming of the Pacific Ocean waters, and the expectation is that the intensification of effects will begin in the coming months.

The financial market and the agricultural sector are already feeling the impact. The so-called "climate risk premium" has been anticipating the appreciation of commodities such as coffee, sugar, and cocoa.

The effects of the phenomenon are expected to affect the performance of the agricultural sector in 2027, when the intensification of impacts should manifest more significantly in harvests and agricultural production.
