Superfans at Rock in Rio: With Social Media and Streaming, Fandoms Become Part of Record Labels', Artists', and Festivals' Strategies

In October 2024, Luan de Carvalho arrived at Circo Voador, in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, with four thousand sheets of paper he had printed at home to surprise Os Garotin, a trio formed by Anchietx, Cupertino, and Léo Guima. He and other fans split the cost of the ink and organized themselves to distribute the papers at the entrance of the event. On the posters was written the phrase "Who would have thought Os Garotin would ever get here?"

When the audience raised the posters, the music stopped. Cupertino began to cry upon seeing the tribute, while Anchietx watched the scene, surprised. Guima recognized Luan at the barrier and asked: "Was it you, right, Luan?"

Fan passion is nothing new, as Elvismania and Beatlemania already mobilized crowds and generated money long before the digital age. The article highlights that today the difference lies in the reach and capacity that social media and streaming provide to fandoms.

With this technology, fandoms have become part of the strategies of record labels, artists, and festivals, including Rock in Rio.

The indicator, which ranges from zero to a thousand, measures the likelihood of the consumer honoring financial commitments and influences conditions such as interest rates, limits, and terms for obtaining credit. In Rio de Janeiro, the average was 535 points, below the national average. The decline was recorded in all regions of the country. According to Wesley Brandão, a Serasa specialist, there is no single cause for the drop, as the score is calculated based on various aspects of financial history, such as bill payments, delinquent debts, credit market experience, recent loan inquiries, active contracts, and registration information.
