Manchester City is preparing an offer of 85 million pounds (approximately R$ 600 million) for striker Cody Gakpo, from Liverpool. The 27-year-old Dutch player decided to leave Liverpool and has City as his preferred destination. Conversations between the parties have already begun to try to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Tottenham also showed interest in Gakpo, but the striker ruled out that possibility and expressed the desire to play for the Manchester club. This preference puts City at an advantage in the race, although it is still necessary to convince Liverpool to release the player.

The negotiation gained momentum in the last days of the transfer window. City made formal contact with Liverpool and is working to make the signing happen before the market deadline. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Citizens are prepared to make the offer of 85 million pounds.
