Chico, the Social Neighborhoods, and the Geometry of Discourses.

The article analyzes Chico's posture, a political figure who visits social neighborhoods, talks with residents, and publishes photographs of these visits. Simultaneously, he constructs a discourse in which so-called "subsidy-dependent" people are presented as a national problem. The author questions the coherence of this approach, wondering whether the visits to the neighborhoods are genuine conversations with citizens or merely a checklist to separate the good from the bad.

On social media, Chico also targets Muslims, associating serious accusations with an entire religious community. The author distinguishes that one thing is to criticize immigration or advocate demanding rules regarding security, but something entirely different is to turn an entire religion into a collective accusation, when crimes must be investigated and suspects judged individually.

The article points out an irony: following Chico's own logic, someone could question whether among those photographed there might be people accused of serious crimes. A photograph proves no complicity, friendship, innocence, or guilt—only that two people stood in front of a camera. The rule should be simple: before accusing, prove; before generalizing, distinguish; before publishing, think.

The author concludes that Chico may continue walking through the neighborhoods, but he cannot pretend that others should be judged by their company while he demands to be judged only by his words. Politics demands coherence, and whoever points the finger at others must remember the four fingers pointing back at themselves. In a serious democracy, questions are asked, evidence is presented, and convictions are left to the courts.

H

É o caso do Chico.

Hero, erasing the permanent seasonality at the hospital is what's really difficult!

The article criticizes the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, for investing 10.2 million euros in expanding the golf course in Porto Santo, justifying the decision with the argument of "erasing seasonality." The author questions the legitimacy invoked by Albuquerque, arguing that voters cast ballots for generic lists without knowing the true political intentions, and warns of historical precedents of golf courses that required repeated injections of public funds to remain operational. The criticism extends to the distortion of priorities, suggesting that resources should be channeled toward pressing needs such as housing, health, and cost of living, instead of "luxury lawns," accusing the politician of using propaganda and promises to maintain power.

Augusto Cury on TV Globo: candidate defends reduction of ministries, creation of security portfolio and adjustment to Bolsa Família

Presidential candidate Augusto Cury (Avante) defended in an interview on TV Globo the taxation of sports betting platforms (bets) at at least 50% as a way to increase public revenue and reduce Brazilian debt, which according to him is at "stratospheric levels." Currently, bets pay only 12% in taxes, while food pays 18% and electricity between 30% and 33%. Cury also stated that he will create a specific portfolio for security, reduce the number of ministries after careful analysis, adjust the Bolsa Família program and combat corruption in a potential government.
