José goes every day to Parque da Bela Vista to take care of 30 beehives (and takes the opportunity to see some concerts)

José Teixeira Magalhães goes every day to Parque da Bela Vista to take care of 30 beehives. His routine includes the maintenance and monitoring of the beehives, also taking the opportunity to attend some concerts that happen in the park.

MEO Kalorama is an event that takes place at Parque da Bela Vista. Whenever this type of musical event sets up in the park, José receives a special privilege related to access to the premises.

This access to the premises is granted because José's work depends directly on the possibility of moving around the location where the beehives are installed. Without this access, it would not be possible to fulfill his daily responsibilities of caring for the beehives.

Glacier collapse and "liquid cement": the (possible) explanations for the tragedy in Nepal

A landslide followed by flash floods devastated areas in Nepal and Tibet on Wednesday, causing the death of hundreds of people. Authorities are investigating the causes of the disaster, considering hypotheses such as a glacier collapse or a phenomenon known as "liquid cement," a mixture of water, sediments and rocks that can cause sudden floods with destructive force. Experts are beginning to warn about the growing threat of climate change in the Himalayas region, where accelerated glacial melting may be contributing to increasingly frequent catastrophic events.

Brussels guarantees it is working on the Spanish request for support from European agencies

The European Commission guaranteed it is working to respond to Spain's request for support from European agencies — Frontex, Europol and the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) — to screen the migrants who remain in Ceuta after the mass entry of more than 72,000 people in July. European Commissioner Magnus Brunner stated that the decision will be made quickly and that the priority is to guarantee the rapid return of all people who remain illegally in the autonomous city. Spain requested ten additional Frontex agents, EUAA assistance for interviews and interpreters, and greater cooperation with Europol in investigating trafficking networks. European funding for humanitarian aid in Ceuta was increased to 44.51 million euros. At least 82 people died trying to reach Ceuta by swimming, and it is estimated that around 8,000 illegal migrants still remain in the city.
