Keegan Swirbul, rider from Efapel Cycling, won this Saturday the first stage of the 6th Grande Prémio Douro Internacional, a 145.6-kilometre link between Vila Real and Lamego. The American beat Jesús Del Pino in the sprint at the finish in Lamego.
The stage was marked by major mountain difficulties, with two first-category climbs in the second half of the route. The hardness of these ascents significantly influenced the unfolding of the race.
With this victory, Keegan Swirbul took the lead of the general classification of the race. The Efapel Cycling team thus celebrated an important result in the international competition.
