In private education, there are 38 schools where one third of students have 19 or 20 in all subjects

In Portuguese private education, there are 38 schools where at least one third of students obtained top grades (19 or 20) in all subjects. These data were highlighted in a report by the National Education Council, which warned about the disparity between grades at private and public schools.

The Association of Private Schools (AEEP) came forward to deny any suspicion of grade inflation at its schools. The association argues that the results are due to the quality of teaching offered and the specific characteristics of the student body at these institutions.

The National Education Council report analyzed secondary school grade data and identified these 38 schools as particularly atypical cases, where the concentration of top grades significantly exceeds what would be expected. This analysis comes in the context of national exams and entry into higher education.
