Portugal made over 4,000 requests to tech giants to obtain evidence in criminal investigations. The different police authorities in the country made 4,012 requests to the eight companies included in the project's sample.

The Sirius project is an initiative that aims to regulate and monitor information requests made by authorities to large technology groups. This study allows for a better understanding of how Portuguese security forces have used data from technology companies in criminal investigations.

The eight companies included in the sample represent some of the largest technology companies operating globally. The requests made by Portuguese authorities aimed to obtain digital evidence to support ongoing criminal investigations in the country.
