Real Sociedad secured their first victory of the season at Anoeta, their home ground, defeating Espanyol 2-1. This result allowed the Basque team to earn their first points of the season. The first goal was scored by Ander Barrenetxea in the first half. Roberto Fernández equalized for Espanyol shortly before halftime. Iceland's Orri Oskarsson scored the decisive goal that defined the final score in favor of the home side.
