After the president's son, Flavio Bolsonaro, met with bankers and businesspeople from the financial sector in São Paulo, President Lula also decided to seek closer ties with the market. The competition for financial sector support has intensified in the 2026 presidential race.
Lula is expected to receive businesspeople and bankers at a dinner this Monday (31st), organized by the reelection campaign. Among the guests are brothers Joesley and Wesley Batista, from holding company J&F, and Rubens Ometto, from the company Cosan.
The campaign is still deciding where the meeting will take place. The initial idea was to hold the dinner at the Alvorada Palace, but part of the team fears that using the official residence could raise questions with the Electoral Court, with accusations of using a public building for campaign activity.
According to interlocutors, the initiative for the dinner came from Lula himself. The meeting takes place just a few days after Flavio Bolsonaro's meeting with financial sector representatives.
