The 3rd phase of the national competition for access to higher education serves to fill vacancies that remained unfilled after the previous phases. This is the last opportunity for students who have not yet secured a placement, functioning as a kind of second round of applications.
Unlike a sometimes widespread idea, this phase does not constitute an extraordinary vacancy intended to solve needs of an academic year already underway. The competition functions in a structured and programmed manner, following rules defined for all phases.
The 3rd phase also allows the filling of relocation places, meaning vacancies that became available when students gave up or abandoned their previous placement. These vacancies return to the system to be competed for by candidates still on the waiting list.
The process is intended for all students who wish to enter higher education and who have not yet secured a place in the previous phases, offering them a final possibility of access before the start of the academic year.
