A Russian drone hit a celebration venue in a village in the Kharkiv region, in northeastern Ukraine, causing 37 dead and at least 42 injured. The attack happened during a funeral in the village of Hroza, where residents had gathered to pay tribute to a fallen soldier.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky harshly criticized the storage of weapons and ammunition in residential areas, warning that it is prohibited to keep such materials near homes. The statement was interpreted as a reference to the Russian practice of positioning military equipment in civilian zones.
Russian authorities have not yet publicly commented on the incident. The attack occurs amid an increase in military activity in the Kharkiv region, one of the most disputed areas since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
The village of Hroza, with a few thousand inhabitants, is approximately 30 kilometers from the Russian border. This was one of the most lethal attacks against Ukrainian civilians in recent months, generating international condemnation.
