There are 160 thousand registered users in health centers who lost their right to a family doctor

TVI Notícias29 August 2026 at 14:08

There are 160 thousand people registered in health centers who lost the right to a family doctor because they had no contact with the National Health Service in the last five years.

The data was announced by the Central Administration of the Health System, which also revealed that, in addition to these 160 thousand users, there are one million 300 thousand people without an assigned family doctor.

The situation directly affects health centers across the country, where many users are left without regular medical follow-up.

The lack of a family doctor means that these users do not have a health professional responsible for their continuous follow-up and long-term health management.
