Berlin City Victim of Extortion Attempt After Cyberattack

The city of Berlin was targeted by a cyberattack that resulted in an extortion attempt. The attackers are demanding a ransom in bitcoins in exchange for not disclosing data or for restoring access to the affected systems.

The amount demanded by the cybercriminals is 30 bitcoins, which currently corresponds to approximately 2 million euros. This amount represents one of the largest ransom demands recorded in attacks of this type against public entities.
